Kindness in our gym

Explaining why we do what we do has always been harder than we ever thought possible. We are Gymnastics Elite, we are here to provide classes and events for children to attend, learn our sports, and have fun at. That’s all well and good, but it has never been enough for us. Gymnastics gyms are all over the world, and as much as we love and respect the sport we also understand that majority of the qualities and life lessons that gymnastics can instill into children will only make a life-changing impact in the child’s life, if they reach a very high level of gymnastics. To serve as an example of how rare a high level gymnast is check this out, out of 700 students taking classes here at our facility, we have one Level 10 gymnast.

Because we understand how important it is to teach growing children certain characteristics and because we are lucky enough to have an opportunity to play a role in developing such characteristics within the children we work with, we are constantly researching and working with our staff to find ways to incorporate these teachings into our everyday classes and events. Working with the children and seeing them progress in the sport is extremely rewarding, but ask any mentor, making an impact in the children’s lives and adding to their character is more rewarding than any skill we could ever teach in the gym. The month of March, event staff and class coaches will be having conversations about what kindness means and how we can all learn to be kind to others. In the world we live in, we could use more kindness, so why not instill it into future generations. Being a class-environment facility, our staff is trained to keep an eye out for unique opportunities to turn an everyday situation into a learning opportunity to teach our kids about being kind.

Aside from talking about kindness throughout classes, we have also come up with a weekly puzzle to help kids explore the meaning of kindness further, while encouraging creativity. Handouts will change weekly and are available for pick-up at the desk.

Handouts will change weekly and are available for pick-up at the desk. We encourage the children to turn their work back in to Gymnastics Elite, so that it can be showcased throughout our lobby and as a gym-family we can all learn a little more about kindness. Children that complete all the weekly activities for that month will earn a one-of-a-kind exclusive button, to show others that kindness is an important quality that they have learned. We will also have special activities in our monthly Kids Night Outs, again providing the opportunity to further explore the quality with their peers and not only learn more about kindness but also help teach their coaches and peers about what kindness means to them!

“KINDNESS IS THE LANGUAGE THAT THE DEAF CAN HEAR AND THE BLIND CAN SEE. NO ACT OF KINDNESS IS EVER WASTED.”
